They have son, Brian and twin daughters, Chelsea and Janelle (Heath Hindman). Brenda (Larry Legare) resides in Medicine Hat, AB, and have four children: Cara, Chris, Loren and Kaylyn. Denise (Tim Forer) farm in Avonlea, SK. They have four children: Jennifer, Nicole, Lindsey and Blair. Kim (Brenda) farm in Lake Lenore and have four children: Sherri (Doran Pronych) and son Mason; Wayne (Lindsay); Jill (Jeremy Jenkins); and Brent. Eric (Shelly) also farm at Lake Lenore and have three children: Morgan, Brittany and Kyle. Mavis (Les Strueby) reside in Lloydminster, AB, and have three children: Danielle, Rylan and Teryn. Clinton (Yvonne) farm by Annaheim and have four children: Kristen, Kimberly, Carson and Kelsey. Dad spent his whole life in this wonderful community of Lake Lenore and was a proud member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. Dad was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing these passions with his friends, children and grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth, and was the last surviving member of the Nick and Elizabeth Berscheid family. The Prayer Service for Barney was held at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Lake Lenore, on Thursday, January 1, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., led by Fr. Lawrence DeMong, O.S.B. Scripture readers were Clint and Yvonne Berscheid and words of remembrance were delivered by Bruce Berscheid. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Lake Lenore, on Friday, January 2, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Others taking part were: Eric Berscheid, cross bearer; Mavis Strueby, Brenda Legare, and Denise Forer, urn bearers; Kim and Brenda Berscheid, scripture readers; Shelly Berscheid and Barb Berscheid, intentions; Mavis Strueby and Clint Berscheid, gift bearers. Music ministry was provided by pianist Denise Forer, organist Norma Weber, and Violinist, Kaylyn Legare. An honor guard was formed by members of the Lake Lenore Lions and the Knights of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers were Barney’s grandchildren and all others who shared in his life.” Interment followed at St. Anthony’s R.C. Cemetery. Ruth is survived by Lawrence, her devoted best friend and beloved husband of 58 years. Loving mother of Louise, Victor (Nyna), Cameron (Teresa) and Catherine Infanti (Steven). Grandmother of eight and great grandmother of nine. Ruth will be fondly remembered by her three nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by her father Melvin Bertrand, her mother Elva (Kidd) and her brother Russel. Those who knew Ruth will mourn her passing, the loss of her cheerful personality and her beautiful infectious smile that brightened our days and will provide joyeous memories to cherish for all time. Ruth's faith in Jesus Christ the son of God will lessen the pain and grief of those who share that faith as they rejoice in her homecoming and the certain hope of an eternal reunion with her in the presence of the King of Kings. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethany Baptist Church (1074 Second Line West at Allen Side Road) on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Sam Norbo officiating. Widman was born Aug. 6, 1941, in Tacoma, Wash. In 1976, she moved to Grants Pass from Europe.
She worked as a waitress for 25 years. On Nov. 24, 1986, she married Robert Widman, who is missing as a result of the same boating accident.
She was a member of Calvary Chapel. She enjoyed golf, horseback riding, gardening, camping and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Tamela Taylor of Merlin; three sons, Randy Shier of Tacoma, Wash., and Richard "Rick" and Milo Shier, both of Grants Pass; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A son, John Shier, died before her. Another son, Tracy Shier, died as a result of the same boating accident. |
