Death*Aubrey Grant Smith died on 8 February 2008 at age 72; AUBREY SMITH 72 YEARS Beloved husband, dear companion and lifelong friend of Joan, beloved father of Grant (wife Pat) of Woodbridge and cherished grandfather of Shelley, passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 8, 2008. He will be dearly missed by his family: step-father Gordon Grills of Little Britain, Judith (husband Bob) Marquis of Newmarket, Margaret Harrison (partner Ken Smith) of Oakville; nephew and nieces Paul, Robyn, Heather and Brittany; his Aunt Doris Stewart of Beaverton; and many cousins. He formed many life-long friends by whom he will be lovingly remembered. Aubrey spent his working life in Education, beginning teaching in a one-room school in Orillia in 1958 and retiring from the Ministry of Education as a Supervisory Officer. While working he earned a PhD in Education, was for many years Principal of the Toronto Teachers' Summer School for Special Education, was a past President of the Province of Ontario's Education Officials Association (P.O.E.O.A.) and was a charter member of Teachers' Lions.
