Beloved husband of Carol Gurr (née Glover). Dear father of Janelle Gurr (Scott Thornton), and Erik (Stephanie) Gurr, all of Kincardine. Loved papa of Kaiden and Nolan. Sadly missed by his brothers, Keith Gurr (Linda Pidduck) of Fenwick, Jeff (Judy) Gurr, and Rob (Angie) Gurr, all of Barrie, and his sister, Lisa (Shawn) Kavanagh of Mount Forest. Also survived by his mother, Ida Herd of Kincardine, step-mother Janet Gurr of Kincardine, and his mother-in-law Doris Glover of Tiverton. Predeceased by his father Bill Gurr, step-father Fred Herd and father-in-law, Wes Glover. Death*Mervin Hazen Gurr died on 15 April 2014 in Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, at age 77; Merven Hazen Gurr, beloved husband of Marjorie, father of Oral (Shelly) Gurr and Cindy (Harvey) Dalzell, passed peacefully into his Savior's arms, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 77 years. Merv was born on the family farm near Lenore, Manitoba on November 16, 1936. He spent his childhood and teen years working on the farm and attending Hamiota School. It was at church where he saw that 14-year-old dark haired beauty that he knew he would one day marry. Marj and Merv were married November 19, 1955. They moved to Brandon where Merv started working for Brandon Paint and Glass. In 1971, Merv ventured out and started his own business, Keystone Glass Ltd. He retired at the age of 75, but still loved visiting and checking out the jobs. Merv was a founding member of Calvary Temple, and was dedicated to the people and ministries of the church. He was a caring and compassionate man, who was always there to help others. Merv loved his wife and family dearly and was so proud of each one of them. He enjoyed all the family times spent together. Merv is also survived by grandchildren Jordan (Allison) Dalzell, Jessica (Andrew) Hansen, Braden (Ashley) Gurr, Sarah (Brett) Morgan, Joshua Dalzell. Great-grandchildren: Kyler, Declan, Charlotte and Violet. His siblings: Lorraine (John) Hersey, Merrilyn (Bruce) Nehring, Glen (Marilyn) Gurr and families. Merv was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Ethel Gurr, and in-laws Nick and Bertha Komarnisky. Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Temple, 620 - 34th Street on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Gary Jennings will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. Death*Samuel Edward Gurr died on 31 December 2000 in Assinboine Centre, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, at age 89; Samuel Edward Gurr peacefully passed away Sunday, December 31, 2000 at the Assiniboine Centre at the age of 89 years. Sam was born April 27, 1911 in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan. At only 11 months old he and parents, Albert and Bertha Gurr, moved to Arrow River, Manitoba. Sam attended school there and later in Crandall. He loved to curl and play baseball. He later went to college in Winnipeg to study agriculture. Sam attended the old Wesley Church, which is the present location of Winnipeg Calvary Temple. There he committed his life to the Lord. Returning from college he became interested in Ethel Hazlewood, and on November 1, 1934 they were married on the Hazlewood homestead. They began farming and later moved to Oakner and then Hamiota. He won many ribbons showing cattle, horses and sheep. He went into the dairy business with Registered Holsteins. In 1956 they moved to Brandon and built a milking parlour and two large silos. Again he won many red ribbons showing cattle. Sam also served on milk producer and fair boards. In 1969 Sam retired and he and Ethel spent six winters in Florida. In the summer he loved the campground life. Sam was a founding member of Brandon Calvary Temple and served as the church treasurer and as a board member. He also had a large library of books and music. Sam was predeceased by his parents; Albert and Bertha Gurr, brothers; Bob and Cecil and sister; Mabel. Left to cherish his beautiful memories are his loving wife; Ethel, four children; Lorraine (John) Hersey, Merv (Marj) Gurr, Merrilyn (Bruce) Nehring, and Glen (Marilyn) Gurr, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sister; Emily Gurr and brothers; Bert (Vera) Gurr and Russ Gurr. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, January 3, 2001. Rev. Ron Pierce officiated. Interment was at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Sam may be made to the Gideons Brandon Camp, Box 20060, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 5Y8. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Bebe lived most of her life between the San Joaquin and Imperial Valleys in California, because her father was a lead mechanic for the Rapid Harvest Company. (She also lived in Monterey County during her youth.) When Bebe reached high school age, she and her mother settled in Firebaugh, California, where she attended Dos Palos High School.
married John O'Meara on November 12, 1949 and moved to Madera. She was a happy and loving mother and homemaker, taking care of her two children and volunteering in support of their various activities. When her daughter left for college and her son was a junior in high school, Bebe became an instructional aide for the English Department at Madera High School, where she worked for 15 years. Bebe also began a second career as a travel agent for Madera Travel. She and John traveled to many wonderful places including Ireland, Europe, Australia and China. As time went on, most of their travel was limited to visiting their family and friends throughout California and the western United States.
loved spending time and taking trips with her grandchildren. She was very pleased when her granddaughter made her a great grandmother in 2009, with the birth of a daughter.
was an active member of the Italian Catholic Federation, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Joachim Altar and Rosary Society, and she also volunteered at the Saint Vincent DePaul Thrift Store.
passed away peacefully on February 3, 2011 after a long illness.
is survived by her loving husband of 61 years John. Her two children, a daughter and son, and their spouses; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Death*James E. Haferbecker died on 1 May 2013 at age 76; James E. “Jim” Haferbecker, Appleton, age 76, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on May 1, 2013. He was born on January 16, 1937 in Appleton to the late Elmer and Beatrice (Hogle) Haferbecker. Jim married Patricia Nicolais of Chicago in Houston in 1957. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. In the last six months, Jim was a resident of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. He loved to dance, fish, bowl, play cards and be with his family and friends.255,255]
Jim is survived by his wife Pat; sons: David (Lisa), Appleton, Timothy, Long Lake; and Steven, Neenah; grandchildren: Trisha and Samantha Haferbecker; great grandchildren: Tatiana, Anthony, Trinity, Anyia and Kane; his loving cousin Fay (Richard) VanEyck; and many other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Lois Haferbecker.
Jim was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather, with a great sense of humor. All that knew and loved him will miss him dearly and his memory will be in our hearts always.
Visitation will be Sunday May 5, 2013 at O’CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 11:00 a.m. until funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke officiating. Marion was born to Alvin and Marie (Slind) Hage on November 12, 1933 on a farm near Dahlton Saskatchewan. She had many great memories of this close-knit community: attending Heimdahl School, skating, church camps, ball teams, her horse Daisy, growing award winning potatoes, and time spent in the Kid-Inn. After completing her education, Marion worked at the Co-op in Archerwill, Nipawin and Saskatoon.
In 1953 Marion moved to Calgary where she worked at Safeway. Through friends she met Ron in 1957, they were married on August 8, 1959 and were blessed with three children and three grandchildren. Marion worked tirelessly and selflessly to raise her family. She was active at the Lakeview Community and assisted with the newsletter for many years. Ron and Marion enjoyed curling, golf, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered as a very kind, caring and joyful person and will be missed dearly.
Besides her loving husband of fifty-five years, Marion is survived by daughter Sandra Williams; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Sandra Shier and Brian Shier and Maggie Naylor; three grandchildren, Sarah Williams, Kristen and Evan Shier. She was predeceased by her parents Alvin and Marie Hage and her brother Ernest Hage.
A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held at Northmount Baptist Church (451 Northmount Dr. NW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
In living memory of Marion Shier, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
