She was born Virginia Mae Bellmer on May 22, 1928 to Ward A. and Edna R. (Kingman) Bellmer, she grew up in Kegomic and was a graduate of Petoskey High School. On June 12, 1949 she married Willard C. Page in Kegomic, the two were married for just short of 41 years until Willard’s death on April 30, 1990. On June 21, 1997 Virginia married Donald G. Allen, he preceded her in death on September 10, 2010. Virginia was proud to have been a lifelong resident of Kegomic and loved her little neighborhood on the shore of Little Traverse Bay. She was an active person who loved to travel and spend time outdoors. Over the years she enjoyed baseball, bowling and tennis and she especially enjoyed warm summer days picnicking with family and close friends. She was a member of the Petoskey United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving Virginia are two of her six children, Mark (Pat) Page and Tammy (David) Bell; two grandchildren Trevor and Alexandria and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four of her children Connie, Wayne, Gary and Cindy, and by her siblings Ward, Frances, Ruth, John and Barb, and as mentioned previously her husbands, Willard Page and Donald Allen.

Her life will be remembered during a funeral service that will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Stone Funeral Home; Dr. James Mitchum of the Petoskey United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take plane in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Stone Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Those wishing to honor her memory or express their sympathy are encouraged to consider donations to the Petoskey VFW, Petoskey United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Albert) Benet.

Louise was a very devout woman who prayed for her family and children of the world everyday. She was the special mother all her life of many needy children brought to her by other families, social workers and nurses. She was always concerned about children being hungry and had a great desire to love all children.

Louise is survived by her sons Joseph Dempsey (Betty) of Belledune, Melvin Dempsey (Sonya) of Belledune; daughters Mary Anderson (Michael) of Belledune and Kyah Louise Stewart of Dalhousie; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as her siblings Irene Benet Cassidy and Charles Benet.

She was predeceased by her first husband Aldon Dempsey and her second husband Leonard Chilvers; daughters Elizabeth (Betty) Ross and Paula McColm; as well as her siblings Joseph, Melinda, Philemone, Elizabeth, Lorette, Margaret, Henry, Paul and Walter.

Her funeral was held from St. Gabriels Church Jacquet River, December 21, 2016 officiated by Father Goldrup.

Donations to Saint Gabriel's Parish Church, Canadian Cancer Society or Jacquet River School's Nutrition Program in memory of Louise would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillans Funeral Home, Black Point.

Death*Bernard "Barney" Frank Berscheid died on 30 December 2008 at age 85; Bernard “Barney” was born in Lake Lenore, the fourth son of Nick and Elizabeth Berscheid. He was destined to be a farmer and remained his whole life in Lake Lenore. In 1953, Barney married Ruth Olson of Spalding, who became his life partner for just two months short of 50 years. They were blessed with seven children, 25 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Their eldest son, Dr. Bruce (Barbara) live in Saskatoon. They have son, Brian and twin daughters, Chelsea and Janelle (Heath Hindman). Brenda (Larry Legare) resides in Medicine Hat, AB, and have four children: Cara, Chris, Loren and Kaylyn. Denise (Tim Forer) farm in Avonlea, SK. They have four children: Jennifer, Nicole, Lindsey and Blair. Kim (Brenda) farm in Lake Lenore and have four children: Sherri (Doran Pronych) and son Mason; Wayne (Lindsay); Jill (Jeremy Jenkins); and Brent. Eric (Shelly) also farm at Lake Lenore and have three children: Morgan, Brittany and Kyle. Mavis (Les Strueby) reside in Lloydminster, AB, and have three children: Danielle, Rylan and Teryn. Clinton (Yvonne) farm by Annaheim and have four children: Kristen, Kimberly, Carson and Kelsey. Dad spent his whole life in this wonderful community of Lake Lenore and was a proud member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. Dad was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing these passions with his friends, children and grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth, and was the last surviving member of the Nick and Elizabeth Berscheid family. The Prayer Service for Barney was held at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Lake Lenore, on Thursday, January 1, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., led by Fr. Lawrence DeMong, O.S.B. Scripture readers were Clint and Yvonne Berscheid and words of remembrance were delivered by Bruce Berscheid. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Lake Lenore, on Friday, January 2, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Others taking part were: Eric Berscheid, cross bearer; Mavis Strueby, Brenda Legare, and Denise Forer, urn bearers; Kim and Brenda Berscheid, scripture readers; Shelly Berscheid and Barb Berscheid, intentions; Mavis Strueby and Clint Berscheid, gift bearers. Music ministry was provided by pianist Denise Forer, organist Norma Weber, and Violinist, Kaylyn Legare. An honor guard was formed by members of the Lake Lenore Lions and the Knights of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers were Barney’s grandchildren and all others who shared in his life.” Interment followed at St. Anthony’s R.C. Cemetery. Saviour at 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Sault Area Hospital - Plummer Site in her 78th year. Ruth is survived by Lawrence, her devoted best friend and beloved husband of 58 years. Loving mother of Louise, Victor (Nyna), Cameron (Teresa) and Catherine Infanti (Steven). Grandmother of eight and great grandmother of nine. Ruth will be fondly remembered by her three nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by her father Melvin Bertrand, her mother Elva (Kidd) and her brother Russel. Those who knew Ruth will mourn her passing, the loss of her cheerful personality and her beautiful infectious smile that brightened our days and will provide joyeous memories to cherish for all time. Ruth's faith in Jesus Christ the son of God will lessen the pain and grief of those who share that faith as they rejoice in her homecoming and the certain hope of an eternal reunion with her in the presence of the King of Kings. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethany Baptist Church (1074 Second Line West at Allen Side Road) on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Sam Norbo officiating. In lieu of
flowers, donations made to City Bible Church or Canadian Cancer Society in her memory would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758).
