Dear brother of Roy (June) Dieter, Wayne (Joann) Dieter, Shirley (Leonard) Schank, Joan (Larry) Grimoldby, all of Owen Sound, Linda (Rick) Webster, of Stayner and Audrey (Lyle) Ransome, of Owen Sound. She is survived by brother John (Gladys) Dikken, sisters Minnie (Jim) Beaman and Cerrie (Graham) Mace, and numerous loved in-laws, nieces and nephews throughout North America. family emigrated from Holland to Canada in 1952, settling in Edmonton. She met Bruce in 1959 and they married in 1963. Helga earned her PHT (Putting Hubby Through) Degree from the University of Alberta in 1965. A move to Calgary in 1967 ended the party life. The family expanded in 1968 with the arrival of Wendy and then Kathy in 1970. In 1986 the family business was sold and she entered the retirement phase of life. 1998 brought a move to Cochrane, Alberta and 2007 a move to Nanaimo, B.C.had a passion for family and friends, and an unquenchable thirst for golf, bridge and shopping. She loved to entertain in her home. A distressing; accident occurred at Conesus Lake Thursday forenoon, through which Walter and Gerald Doble, two brothers aged respectively thirteen and fifteen years, lost their lives. The two boys left their home in Livonia about 8 o'olook Thursday morning, and started for Conesus Lake for the purpose of fishing. They were seen; walking up the lake on the east side about 10:30 o'clock, and a short time after a hat, mittens and basket were found on the ice, and the indication were that someone had broken through the ice near an air hole. A crowd soon collected, grappling hooks were procured, and after dragging a short time the bodies were found in about thirty feet of water. The remains were taken to their home at Livonia, and Dr. Trimmer notified. The boys were pupils of the Livonia High School and general favorites. They leave a mother, two sisters and a stepfather. |
