When she and Bill made the move to Moose Jaw in 1965 she spent her time raising her children, working as a medical receptionist, and later in life followed her passion of crafting full time. She was known for her love of church life, kindness to friends, and keeping up with the grandchildren. A special thank you goes to her many amazing friends who cared for her in the last few years of her life. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A private interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. LeMoyne was born on July 21, 1929, in Detroit, MI to Arthur A. and Helen L. (Veit) Pfeffer. She married Milton Shier on April 20, 1968, in the Deerfield Methodist Church. They resided in Adrian and Deerfield during their married life. Milton preceded her in death March 24, 1998.
LeMoyne graduated from Deerfield High School, attended County Normal and Siena Heights College, where she received her teaching degree. She taught in many of the country schools in Lenawee and Monroe counties, finishing her teaching years at Bedford, MI. She was the church organist for 50 years as a member of the Deerfield Methodist Church. LeMoyne was a member of Eastern Star, Blue Lodge and Commandery, where she had many friends.
She is survived by four nieces and nephews, Karen (Donald) Spiegel of Palmyra, Mary (David) Fischer of Blissfield, Dennis Pfeffer of Adrian and Stephen (Bonnie) Pfeffer of Brooklyn, MI; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, LeMoyne is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Darl Arthur Pfeffer and his wife, Gertrude (Welker) Pfeffer; and a niece, Janet Hall-Baker.
Funeral services for LeMoyne will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Deerfield United Methodist Church in Deerfield with Pastor Sam Pooley officiating. Burial will follow at Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday before the service from 9 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Mabel (Woon) Phair, her sister Helen, her brother Wilmot and his wife Barbara of Greenbank and by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence and Shirley Rennie of Guelph.
Doris was raised on the Phair farm south of Greenbank, and received her education in Greenbank and Port Perry. In 1948, she married Ivan Rennie and together, they farmed near Wick in Brock Township. She loved farm life and was a busy homemaker and gardener all of her life. Doris was relentlessly curious about a wide variety of things. She loved learning about nature and took great pleasure in tending her flowers and feeding her birds. She also loved the music and the message of the hymns and would often sing along with them until well past her 102nd birthday. Doris has also left her descendants with extensive notes and photos of our family history. Knitting, baking, painting, letter writing and reading were also part of her active life. She has left a wonderful legacy as a faithful wife, mother and grandmother. Our family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the West Shore Village Retirement Home and Dr. Shepherd for their compassionate care of our beloved mother.
The family of Doris Rennie will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Saturday, February 28th from 10 – 11 a.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment McNeil Cemetery, Wick.
