He had been removed there from his home early Monday evening after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services will be at 1:20 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Vernon Anderson will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens in the Town of Kossuth.
Mr. Shier was born Nov. 11, 1910, at Seymour, Wis., son of the late Adam and Elizabeth Sproule Shier. He attended schools there and after graduation from Seymour High School he was employed with the Michigan Power and Light Co. at Appleton for 11 years. He married the former Irene Griffin at Valders in September, 1937, and the following year moved to Manitowoc where he was employed by the Wisconsin Public Serv ice Corp. He later worked for Rahr Inc. for a number of years before organizing Crafts Inc. in 1943. Then in 1952 he organized Craft Electric In. where he worked until the time of his death and where he served as president of the firm. He was a member of the Brotherhood of the church, chairman of the board of property of First Lutheran, member of Elks Lodge No. 687, Optimists, United Commercial Travelers, Master Builders, chairman of the board of apprentices for Manitowoc, Masonic Lodge F and AM No. 65, Manitowoc Chapter No. 16 R.A.M., Manitowoc Commandery No. 45 Knights Templar, Tripoli Shrine Temple of Milwaukee and the Two Rivers Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, the Misses Lois and Patricia, both at home; and two sisters Mrs. Elizabeth Peterson and Mrs. Franklin Siebert, both of Manitowoc. Three sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state until the hour of services. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the First Lutheran Church and to Memorial Hospital.1

Enlisted MI 24th Infantry 13 Aug 1862 at Detroit MI as a Private, Mustered Out on 30 June 1865 at Detroit, MI. Promoted to Corporal 1 Jan 1865. While at Camp Butler IL before discharge, he was part of the escort for President Abraham Lincoln's funeral procession along with his brother Frank Tice and friend Sheldon Crittendon.(Per Anne Klintworth-Shier "Descendants of Johann Adam Shier.")
