While working he earned a PhD in Education, was for many years Principal of the Toronto Teachers' Summer School for Special Education, was a past President of the Province of Ontario's Education Officials Association (P.O.E.O.A.) and was a charter member of Teachers' Lions. He had a passion for children and it showed. Aubrey loved nature and spent as much time out in it as he could. He always kept hounds and enjoyed running with them. He fished every spring, hunted every fall and went cottaging/camping year round. Many fond memories and warm friendships were forged through these interests. Grant shared a number of his adventures, and some became organized annual events. Aubrey has asked for cremation. A visitation will be held at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and after 7 p.m. with a celebration of his life scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. A special Memorial Service and interment at the Old Stone Church in Beaverton will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on June 20, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Flowers, donations or messages of condolence can be arranged online at: www.lougheed.org.
