Death*Arlene Mary Shier died on 17 January 2011 at age 55; Arlene Mary (Shier) Hansen February 17, 1955 - January 17, 2011 Arlene Mary (Shier) Hansen passed away at the Galloway Health Centre, Oxbow, SK., on Monday, January 17, 2011, at the age of 55. On December 23, 2010, after receiving a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer, Arlene accepted her illness with courage and dignity. Arlene was a generous and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed country life and her rural community. She was predeceased by her father Meredith Shier and mother-in-law Marilyn Hansen. Arlene is survived by her husband Brian of Oxbow; 2 daughters: Heather (Daniel) Tober and their children Tristan & Rachel all of Oxbow, Kayla (David) Guckert of Prelate; mother Margaret Shier of Oxbow; brother Ross (Sherry) Shier of Oxbow; father-in-law Chris Hansen of Oxbow; nephews: Nick (Chelsie) Shier of Oxbow, Eric (Tara) Shier and daughter Rowyn of Oxbow, and Trevor Shier (Lindsey Welch) of Regina; also numerous other family members and many friends. A service to celebrate Arlene's life will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the St. Paul's United Church, Oxbow, SK., with Mrs. Alice Watson officiating, interment will follow at the Oxbow Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all care givers at Regina General Hospital Unit 5A and Oxbow Galloway Health Centre for their exemplary care and compassion in Arlene's final month.
