His memory will be lovingly cherished by his family – Amanda (Philip) Blue and their family - Marvin and Henry, Scott (Carrie) and family – Hunter, Tanin, Natalie, Reid and Spencer, Jessica (Brendan) and family – Noel and Nigel and Larissa (Bartley) and their son Coen and Pat’s brother Paul Shier. He will also be remembered by the mother of his children, Linda Shier; numerous in-laws; nieces and nephews and a circle of dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Hall Funeral Services with Shirley Petterson officiating. Please join the family for a luncheon at the Taylorton Room, Days Inn, Estevan, SK following the service.

Birth*Patrick Sherman Shier was born on 24 June 1978 in Portage, Wisconsin, United States. 
He was the son of Elmore Sherman Shier. 
Death*Patrick Sherman Shier died on 5 June 2016 in Fort Winnebago, Wisconsin, United States, at age 37; Patrick Sherman Shier, 37, of Portage, died Sunday, June 5, 2016, as a result of a single-vehicle crash in the town of Fort Winnebago.
Patrick was born June 24, 1978, at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, the third son of Elmore “Butch” and Patricia (Thomson) Shier. Weighing in at 11 pounds, 4 ounces (22 inches long), Baby “Fat Pat” soon became the family favorite, the “little” brother adored by all. His smile was contagious, his kind heart enormous, and his sense of humor renowned.
He will forever be known in the hearts of those who knew him best as “T a p R i c k.” The letters found etched into his mother’s blue Ford station wagon with a rock back in 1982. (When asked, the 4-year-old stated he didn’t have any idea who would do such a thing.)
He graduated from Portage High School in 1996, and had most recently worked for Dawn’s Foods in Portage. He loved life, his family, and his three gorgeous daughters, often saying that they were the best thing he ever did.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia (Jim) Dickson; his three daughters, Libby, Alyssa and Asia; his siblings, Brenda (Geoff) Adaire, Dean (Sue) Achterberg, Terrance Achterberg, Laura (Robert) Fredrick, Pamela Achterberg, Elden Shier and Thomas Shier; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Butch; his grandparents, Ruben and Eleanor Shier and Elden and Dorothy Thomson; and many aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 15 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., and a Sharing of Memories at 7 p.m. lnurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edvest College Savings Plan (college savings plans have been set up for each of his three daughters).
The family would like to thank all relatives, friends and the entire community for their immense show of support and encouragement during this difficult time.

At the age of sixty-nine Mrs. H. N. McKinnon, one of the pioneers of Sheridan township, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. P. Bulman. in this city Saturday. The funeral occured from the Baptist church Tuesday under the ministration of Rev. J. H. Lowe. Interment in Cherry Grove.

Rachel Shier was born in Brock, Ontario, in 1837. There too she was joined in marriage to H. N. McKinnon. From this union three daughters and one son with the husband and father survive: Mrs. A. P. Bulman; Mrs. Joseph Fisher of Elmwood, Ind; Mrs. H. H. Ross of Pontiac, all present at the funeral and Chas. W. of Post Falls, Idaho. Twenty-three years ago the family moved to Loomis and two years later located on section sixteen in Sheridan and began to carve a home out of the wilderness. Sturdy till two years ago, she has since then been in the constant care of her daughter, Mrs. A. P. Bulman. A pioneer of one of our best townships has closed life's battle.
Burial*She was buried in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare County, Michigan, United States.
