The reception was beld at the summer cottage of the bridge's parents. For travelling to Ottawa, the bride wore a nevy blue suit with a hat to match. Upon their return, the happy couple will reside in Zephyr.

Murray Allison MIlls
J43411/R220315, Flying Officer (Navigator), RCAF attached to 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force was killed on air operations on January 5,1945. He was 19 years old.
Flying Officer Mills flew as part of the elite pathfinder force which marked the target for the bomber stream following behind. His Lancaster bomber (PB 343) was shot down near Thedinghausen, at Reid, Germany during a trip to Hanover, Germany. Flying Officer Mills was buried in the Prisioner of War cemetery at Alhorn, Germany.
"Mac" Mills was born in Barrie, July 4, 1925. He attended Victoria Public School and Barrie Collegiate Institute. At BCI, Mac enjoyed playing Rugby and in the band of the BCI orchestra. He was a member of Collier Street United Church. The family then moved to North Bay where Mac joined the RCAF in 1943 at the age of 17. He trained at Lachine, No. 1 ITS, Toronto and NO. 5 AOS, Winnipeg where he earned his Navigator's wing and his commission in March 1944. By May 1944, he was in England assigned to a Lancaster squadron since Novemberr 1944.
The Barrie Examiner reported:
"Mac had made approximately 15 trips on raid over prinicpal target in Germany. On a daylight raid, Dec. 24, he reported their Lancaster had been badly shot up by flak while passing over Dortmund, but the crew were all OK. Only recently he spent a day with two Allandale boys, Howard Kelly and Geo. Finkbinder at Bournemouth, where the latter are stationed. All attended Barrie school together.
"He has one brother, Flying Officer Donald F. Mills at present instructing at No. 2 ANS, Charlottetown, PEI. His father is a veteran of World War 1.
He is the son of J. Murray Mills and Ida Mills of North Bay, Ontario. He is memorialized on the Air Forces Memorial at Runneymede, Surrey, England Panel 279.
At 19 years of age, F/O Mills was the youngest navigator in Bomber Command to lose his life in opeations.

She was 80. Born in Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Alois and Mary (Sibak) Misak. Survived by daughter Tina (James) Shier of Toronto, sons Robert Lypka of Jordan, Ont., Gerald (Kacy) Lypka of Fairfax, Virginia, grandchildren Colin Lypka, June Lypka, Vanessa Shier and Roxanne Lypka. Also survived by a sister Louise Jackson of Toronto and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Walter Lypka and daughter-in-law Judy Lypka. Visitation was held at MIGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Hanover, on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 10am until time of a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Father Luc Payette officiated. Cremation with Inurnment in Hanover Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation were appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Mighton Funeral Home. |
