| Married Name | Her married name was Roulston. |
| Fact 1* | (an unknown value.) |
| Death* | Patricia Margaret Lodwick died on 2 February 2021 in Alberta, Canada, at age 71; Trish was born on April 20, 1949 to Bud and Dona Lodwick in Virdin Manitoba. After a few years her younger sister Fay joined the family. Together they lived in a few small towns in Southern Manitoba and settled on an acreage in Portage La Prairie. Trish would tell stories of working with her dad on the Mink farm, fishing, learning to clean fish, and just going on long drives in the country. All of these stories ended up with the number of snakes there was on the farm. Trish was terrified of snakes!! She would say that she spent so much time with her dad outside that she didn’t even know how to cook until she had to be on her own. In 1968 Trish moved to Edmonton and began working at Portage Mutual Insurance Company and then AMA. It was here where she met her future husband Bob Roulston. Within a year they were married. She was welcomed into a large family of 9 with open arms. Now she had 5 sister-in-law’s and 1 brother-in-law that she loved being around. In 1973 her pride and joy was born. Rob was the light of her life. She often told stories of Rob running down the street and having the neighbours having to bring him back. Many other stories of how Rob would be into everything and able to make friends with everyone. The family of 3 knew that city life wasn’t for them and purchased a farm north of Bruce in 1978. It was here that Rob could run free and just enjoy the country life. Trish was a huge asset to the farm and community. She said she had a lot to learn and it was a lot of work but all the wonderful people in her life made it so much easier. Trish was secretary/treasurer for many years for the Bruce Ag. Society. She worked at the Bruce Stampede selling Ice Cream and Candy then was promoted to running the Beer gardens with Gail Kawalilak. Together they would sell beer all day and half the night then get up first thing in the morning and start flipping pancakes for the pancake breakfast. Trish and her friends were also responsible for crowning the Stampede Queen. Peroghy supper in Bruce is still a well-known event. Trish had such an important roll in this – her job was to make the slushy for all the workers and boil the perogies as she was one of the only ones tall enough not to burn herself. One of her favorite stories about working with the ladies in the community is when an elderly lady would yell at her for not making the cabbage rolls small or tight enough. This elderly lady kept using the quote “MAKE THEM LIKE A SMOKE” Curling was a huge part of Trish’s life. Every weekend she would be out bonspieling with her friends. In her younger years the team of Jean Tkaczyk was unbeatable – on and off the ice. Jean taught her a lot - like how to do donuts in the old car without spilling a drop of their drink or loosing a ash off a smoke, and how to do upside tequila margarita’s. When Cynthia Malowany began curling with this team Trish would say “Have you met my son?” She always said that she had a big part on getting Rob and Cynthia together. Family was everything to Trish. She was totally over the moon when she found out she was going to be a grandmother. Joseph was born in 2002 and Taylor came into her world in 2005. Dawson Currie (Joe’s best friend) was always around. He never went home! She said he was her adopted grandson and treated him the same. Her family was now complete. Many times, she would say these were her gems. Trish loved to road trip this always involved finding a Tim Hortons for an extra-large double double. Then a half mile later finding a gas station so she has a “pee break” She loved her red wine and sitting in front of her fireplace. Her purse was always full of Mento’s to give to the family. 2010 was a big turning point in Trish’s life. Bob and her were beginning to retire. They purchased a house in Yuma, Arizona. Just like that they were snow birds. The stories they would come home with about Happy Hour, shopping, travelling and of course the short little drive into Mexico for Margaritas with her friends. In August of 2020 we received the diagnoses of Trish’s Pancreatic cancer. She wanted to keep things the same as much as possible. Trish spent countless hours watching the silage trucks come in and say “another damn truck”. Her favourite part of fall was combining. She referred to the John Deere combine as her baby. When someone else was running it, she would always say “take care of my baby”. Trish wanted to see the mountains one last time – so the whole family including Baba drove to Jasper in November. So many memories were made. Trish fought hard and never complained but lost the battle on February 2nd. Due to Alberta Health Regulations there will be a private memorial service held for Patricia (Trish) Margaret Roulston on Saturday February 6, 2021 at 1 PM with pastor Alvin Sorenson officiating. An inurnment will follow at the Bruce Cemetery at Bruce, Alberta. Donations in memory of Trish can be made out to the Viking Health Foundation or the Bruce Cemetery Fund. |
