During WW II he rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Following the end of WW II, he served as a member of the Manitoba Legislature for 3 years resigning in 1949 to run for the Canadian House of Commons. He was a key advisor to Progressive Conservative Leader John Diefenbaker and served in the Canadian Cabinet with Prime Minister John Diefenbaker from 1957 to 1963. One has to wonder whether he realized his 5th cousin 2X removed was a Conservative MP at the same time. Dr. Philip Bernard Rynard was the personal physician to Prime Minister Diefenbaker.
