Marriage*John Teskey married Amelia Williamson on 29 December 1886; The Orillia Packet, Jan. 7, 1887- TRAFALGAR- A large party of friends and relatives assembled at the residence of Mrs. James Williamson, on Wednesday, the 29th December, to witness the marriage of her daughter Milly to Mr. John Teskey of Medonte. At the appointed hour the bridal party entered the drawing room to the strains of a wedding march. The bride, who was given away by her brother, David Williamson, Esq., looked charming. She was dressed in cream satin and oriental lace; ornaments, pearls and orange blossoms. Miss Maggie McDonald, of Ivy, cousin of the bride, first bridesmaid, was dressed in light blue nun’s veiling; trimmings, blue satin and oriental lace; ornaments, pearls. Miss Loula McConnell, of Craigvale, second bridesmaid, was dressed in light pink nun’s veiling; trimmings, pink satin and oriental lace; ornaments, pearls. Each carried a bouquet of rare exotics. The groomsmen were Messrs. Thomas and Samuel Williamson. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. William McConnell, of Craigvale, cousin of the bride. After the marriage, the large party sat down to a sumptuous breakfast. The health of the young couple was proposed and honoured by congratulatory addresses from several of the company. About four o’clock the company arose from the table. The bridal party, after the customary shower of rice, proceeded to the railway station- followed by a long procession of cutters- from which the happy couple started on their “honeymoon tour,” and began married life under favorable auspices for a bright and happy future. The bridal presents were numerous, showing by their elegance and costliness the high esteem in which the bride was held by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Noticeable were much silverware and many fancy articles, the handiwork of her lady friends.

Death*John Teskey died on 22 May 1929 at age 81; The Orillia Packet & Times, May 30, 1929- OBITUARY- JOHN TESKEY- The sudden and unexpected death of Mr. John Teskey, at his residence near Warminster, in Medonte, on May 22, was a shock to relatives and friends. He was in his his eighty-second year, and the fourth son of the late Joseph Teskey and Mary Ann Shier, who came to this district in 1845. Deceased was born near Price’s Corner in Medonte on March 28, 1848, and was one of the early settlers whose numbers are rapidly becoming less. For several seasons he operated the first threshing machine in the district, which took the place of the flail, and was in great demand by the new settlers sixty years ago. It was hard work, for the roads were bad. The deceased did good work, and his services were in great demand. The funeral was held on the 25th of May from his late residence and was largely attended by life-long friends. The remains were laid to rest in the family plot in Orillia cemetery, where many poneers of the district repose. The pallbearers were George Teskey, Sarnia; B. Manly Teskey, Cleveland; Howard Teskey, North Bay; James and Reuben Teskey, Orillia, and Joseph LeGear, Allandale. His wife, Amelia Williamson, of Halton County died in 1920. Mr. Teskey is survived by one son, Roy Teskey, on the farm and one daughter, Mrs. W.C. Mortimer, of Winnipeg, who was present at the funeral. Two brothers, Joseph and William Teskey, Orillia are the only ones left of a family of seven boys and one girl. For many years the deceased and his brother William spent their joint birthday, March 28, in each others company, the day having been marked again this year as usual. The late Mr. Teskey was most highly respected and his death is regarded as a distinct loss to the community in which he resided and to his many Orillia friends.1
