Predeceased by his parents Fred Williams and Sybil (Lodwick) Williams, brothers Reginald and Merv, Cyril is survived by his wife and partner of 39 years Brenna Litwack, his fur daughters Bella and Zara, sister Maureen Yerama (Lyle) sisters-in-law Sandy Williams, Linda Litwack (Charlie Sise), niece Colleen, nephews Kyle and Jay. Born in Portage la Prairie, MB, Cyril attended elementary and high school and also obtained his pilot license there. Cyril spent 20 years as a bush pilot and operations manager with LaRonge Aviation before moving to North Saanich, BC in 1988 where he flew with Time Air/Jazz Air until his retirement in 2011. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his youth he won awards as an expert marksman. Under the guidance of scout master Lawrence Litwack, Cyril obtained his Queen Scout Award and met his future wife. Later in life he pursued his artistic talent with acrylic paint. He also enjoyed time snorkeling and relaxing at his second home on beautiful Cayman Brac. Thank you to Dr. Jonathan Phillips, Dr. John Kinihan, staff at BC Cancer Agency, VIHA Palliative Care nurses, in particular Caroline Henry, Beacon home support, Saanich Peninsula Palliative Care Unit. Special thank you to Jane Penny (his favourite nurse), Dan Hartshorne and Tom Haney. At Cyril's request, there will be no service.
Cyril - became a pilot in the ‘60s. Worked as a bush pilot in northern Manitoba/Saskatchewan and would often fly RCMP members into detachments - one time they were surrounded by an angry mob and attacked with branches and frying pans. Cyril got hit in the head by one of the RCMP members who was swinging around a baton.later worked for Jazz Canada and also helped set up an airport in Africa and flew for a mining company. He and Brenna were heavily involved in agility training with their golden retrievers. They also invested in property in the Cayman Brac and travelled there annually. (Family notes.) |

Stationed in Sooke, British Columbia. 19DEC1964, snow storm of the century. Out on patrol in his car, drove down Maple Avenue towards Sooke Harbour Authority. Black ice on the road and his car slid off the end of the wharf. A fisherman had observed the car go ff the dock and went to assist however had trouble getting Reg out of the car (his spikes on his boots were caught on the floor). Ambulance transported to Victoria however they were unable to revive him.Donovan TAIT was stationed at Sooke and initiated the creation of a memorial for Reg which is now outside of the detachment. In 2015 Maple Avenue was renamed as “Williams St” in honour of Reg. In January 2018, Ed MASON of 630 CHED reached out to S/Sgt McARTHER of Sooke and we were able to arrange the return of Reg’s stetson, belts, Criminal Code, notebooks etc to me as Sybil had donated it all to a retired RCMP Inspector in the ‘80s.had a hobby of a radio club and was part of an association which documented when he had heard broadcasts on frequencies from stations around the world. At the appointed hour the bridal party entered the drawing room to the strains of a wedding march. The bride, who was given away by her brother, David Williamson, Esq., looked charming. She was dressed in cream satin and oriental lace; ornaments, pearls and orange blossoms. Miss Maggie McDonald, of Ivy, cousin of the bride, first bridesmaid, was dressed in light blue nun’s veiling; trimmings, blue satin and oriental lace; ornaments, pearls. Miss Loula McConnell, of Craigvale, second bridesmaid, was dressed in light pink nun’s veiling; trimmings, pink satin and oriental lace; ornaments, pearls. Each carried a bouquet of rare exotics. The groomsmen were Messrs. Thomas and Samuel Williamson. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. William McConnell, of Craigvale, cousin of the bride. After the marriage, the large party sat down to a sumptuous breakfast. The health of the young couple was proposed and honoured by congratulatory addresses from several of the company. About four o’clock the company arose from the table. The bridal party, after the customary shower of rice, proceeded to the railway station- followed by a long procession of cutters- from which the happy couple started on their “honeymoon tour,” and began married life under favorable auspices for a bright and happy future. The bridal presents were numerous, showing by their elegance and costliness the high esteem in which the bride was held by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Noticeable were much silverware and many fancy articles, the handiwork of her lady friends. |
